Kenai Peninsula pilots should use caution If traveling in the vicinity of the Mat-Su and Meadow Lakes areas.
The National Weather Service in Anchorage issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 3:39pm this afternoon.
This evening’s storm could produce quarter sized hail, damaging winds, deadly lighting, and very heavy rains.
Anyone traveling on the roadways in the areas of Wasilla, Houston, Meadow Lakes, and the Park Highway is advised that torrential rainfall may create flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
The NWS suggests that residents of the Western Mat-Su Valley move to an interior room on the lowest floor of buildings.
