As the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District introduced full-time on-site learning to Pre-K thorough 6th grades to start the second half of the school year, grades 7-12 have been attending on split schedules due to COVID-19 risk levels. KPBSD announced on Friday that the district is on-path to opening all students to the full-time on-site learning option, officially starting in the Seward / Moose Pass area this Monday, January 25.
Pegge Erkeneff, KPBSD’s Director of Communications, spoke to KSRM Friday afternoon: “Our Seward area and Moose Pass schools, 7-12 grade students, can return to on-site at-school learning this coming Monday! That’s January 25. That means that all 7-12 graders will be able to attend school on-site with that option.”
What about the rest of the district? “By next Thursday, parents in the Central Peninsula and Southern Peninsula can expect to hear if their students will be able to start as early as February 1, that Monday.”
KSRM will provide continued updates for that possible February 1 launch.
For parents with questions or concerns, the district advises calling your school where principals, teachers, and school secretaries are ready to field questions to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible.
