Seward Highway Paving To Cause Delays Through October

The Alaska Department of Transportation noted on social media that they will be making a big push to finish paving on the Seward Highway, from MP 75 which is near the bottom of Turnagain Pass, through MP 90 which is near the Girdwood intersection. Their aim is to complete the paving before snow begins. They will be starting Friday, September 18.

According to DOT, this means that, as long as weather permits, they will be working extended hours Monday through Sunday, from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

They remind drivers to expect, and be prepared for, long delays. Flagging operators will guide drivers through the area, and they expect the final paving work to take them well into the first week of October.
