After the City of Soldotna held successful shop-local voucher programs last year and the City of Kenai launched its own ‘Shop Here All Year’ program at the start of the month, the City of Seward is adopting the trend to help local businesses.
The Seward Chamber of Commerce announced their Shop Seward promotion which lasts from February 11 to February 16. When a shopper spends $200 at a participating Seward Chamber of Commerce business, they can receive four $25 vouchers, totaling $100, to use at participating businesses or nonprofits of their choice.
How can someone go about getting the vouchers? $200 of receipts for non-essential, discretionary items must be submitted to the Seward Chamber, and if the shoppers will not be in town by the deadline, Seward will mail the vouchers, if necessary.
Thus far, participating businesses include Frontier Trading Post, Alaska SeaLife Center, Urbach’s Clothiers, Seward Ocean Excursions, Alaska Seafood Grill, 13 Ravens Coffee, Resurrect Art Coffee House & Gallery, Seward Pride Alliance, and Salted Roots Alaska.
Chamber members who would like to participate must fill out a form by February 10. Taxes, delivery fees, tips, and shipping do not apply towards the $200 minimum total towards earning vouchers. Once received, the vouchers must be spent by March 31. More information can be found at Seward’s official website.
