Seward Takes Two From Bulldogs In Peninsula Conference Basketball

With seeding for the Peninsula Conference basketball tournament still to be determined, the Seward Seahawks improved their conference records with victories against the Nikiski Bulldogs at Nikiski on Friday.

 

Seward Girls 43 – Nikiski 31

The Nikiski Bulldog girls matched Seward through three quarters before Seward pulled-away for the 43-31 victory over the Bulldogs.  The Seahawks led 16-15 at the half and 25-22 after three quarters.  Seward made 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to build a 12-point margin of victory.  Savanna Stock topped Nikiski with 7 points; Hannah Schilling and Lena Jagielski each scored 11 for the Seahawks.

 

Seward Boys 53 – Nikiski 49

The Bulldog boys failed to hold a 5-point lead into the fourth quarter; Seward mounting a 21-point, fourth quarter for the 53-49 conference win at Nikiski.  The Bulldogs led 20-19 at the half and 37-32 after three quarters.  Charlie Chamberlain scored ten points in the fourth for Nikiski and 14 points for the game.  Seward’s Tommy Cronin topped all scorers with 17 points, including four three-pointers.

 

The Seward girls improve to 3-3 in the Peninsula Conference; Nikiski stands at 0-5.

The Seward boys hold a 2-4 record and Nikiski 1-4 in the Peninsula Conference.
