On Thursday, September 25, the Seward Chamber of Commerce will host a Meet the Candidates event at their City Council Chambers.
Seward City Clerk Johanna Kinney said the list of candidates will be finalized closer to the event but these are some of who have been invited.
Kinney: “The candidates running for City Council, so we have four people running for three of the two year terms on the city council, then we have a one year term and one spot open for that and we have one candidate for that and those candidates are invited to the Meet the Candidates night, the event itself is put on by the Seward Chamber of Commerce so they’re kind of tasked with bringing forward candidates that will come on the ballot for the Seward voters, I think they are definitely focusing on the borough ballot as well so I think that invitations will be extended to the borough mayor candidates.”
The Chamber may also reach out to House and Senate candidates.
Kinney said the event will be held as a panel.
Kinney: “And they will be asked questions from the public, people will call in, we’ll have a phone line available for people to call in because it will also be televised on our local cable station so people watching can call in and the high school government classes usually come and are runners of questions to our emcee of the evening so it’s kind of a nice civic thing for our students to participate in as well.”
That event will be September 25, in the Seward Council Chambers at 6 pm.
