The 2020 Shayna Pritchard Memorial Volleyball Tournament, a mainstay of the high school volleyball season, will be contested under a modified bracket and under COVID-19 mitigation measures on Saturday, October 3rd at Nikiski High School.
The tournament will incorporate a basic play-in, four team bracket to accommodate the five Peninsula teams and to guarantee each team a minimum of two games. Teams entered into the tournament include: Nikiski, SoHi, Homer, Seward and Kenai. Nikiski opens play against Seward at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday; followed by SoHi vs Homer at 10:30 a.m. Kenai will receive a first-round bye and play in the noon game against the winner of Nikiski/Seward. See bracket for details.
Mitigation plans include limiting the total number of spectators to 85 people. Masks must be worn entering the Nikiski gym. No concessions will be available.
The games will be streamed live on Nikiski High School Facebook page.
Note on Shayna Pritchard Memorial Tournament: Shayna was an important part of the Nikiski High School Family. She participated in volleyball and basketball for the Bulldogs. In June of 2007, Shayna was tragically killed in a car accident in Colorado. Her parents have set up a scholarship fund and we would like to help donate into that scholarship. Half of all of the proceeds for this tournament will be given to the Shayna Pritchard Scholarship Fund.
