Shop with a Firefighter Event Sees Growing Popularity

Eleven children shopped with local Central Emergency Services over the weekend, participating in the annual “Shop with a Firefighter” event.

CES Engineer Josh Thompson says each year more community members donate to the program, helping create a memorable experience for the children shopping.

Thompson: “I think most of them enjoyed wrapping them, they picked out their favorite presents first and were helping us wrap them and the Church of God ladies were there at the wrapping booth.”

The “Shop with a Firefighter” program helps local children in need pick out presents for themselves and their families while accompanied by first responders.

Thompson says this year went off without a hitch again and thanked the firefighters who shopped with the kids along with those who covered the station, Fred Meyer staff, and the ladies wrapping presents.
