At 2:30pm Wednesday afternoon, the Nikiski Fire Department, the City of Kenai Fire Department, Alaska State Troopers, and the Alaska DNR- Division of Forestry (DOF) responded to a vehicle accident and grass fire. The small pick-up truck was traveling at a high rate of speed down the road and lost control flipping several times. The driver was wearing his seatbelt and was able to get out of the vehicle unharmed however the truck caught on fire. The fire spread out into the grass surrounding the vehicle. Nikiski responded two engines and a command vehicle, Kenai responded two engines and an ambulance, Division of Forestry responded a helicopter and two engines. The fire was quickly controlled and there were no injuries.
