The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 38 new positive COVID-19 cases combined in their Saturday and Sunday updates, including six in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Four cases came from Homer and two were in the Southern Kenai Peninsula.
29 of the weekend’s cases were reported in Saturday’s count, including all six Kenai Peninsula Cases.
No new deaths have been reported. This leaves the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Alaska at 12.
Three new non-resident cases were identified on Sunday as seafood industry workers. Five non-resident cases were also reported on Saturday’s report, comprised of both seafood workers and tourists.
The number of active resident cases in the state of Alaska is now 238. The active case count continues to grow, with this marking the state’s highest recorded active count since the onset of COVID-19.
These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on June 13.
