The Department of Health and Social Services announced 70 new cases of COVID-19 in Alaska in Monday’s report. Four of the cases were residents of Kenai and there was one resident case out of both Sterling and the North Kenai Peninsula Borough.

The majority of the state’s new cases among residents came from Anchorage where 36 residents were positive.

There are currently 2,596 active cases of COVID-19 among Alaska residents. 208 of those cases are residents of the Kenai Peninsula. Among those, 60 are in Soldotna, 45 in Seward, 41 in Kenai, and 33 in Homer.

The Kenai Peninsula’s rate of daily tests with positive results has been improving. On August 2, it was 2.07%. It has steadily dipped to 1.21% on the August 7 report and 0.81% on the most recent report.
