Skilak Lake Road was reopened completely May 18 after being closed for nearly two weeks.
McCarthy: “We’re still recommending people drive with four wheel drive and watch out for the soft spots but otherwise it is open all the way through.”
Shannon McCarthy with the Department of Transportation said this past weekend’s sunny, dry weather helped crews dry out the road materials and improve the overall conditions.
She said everyone is hoping the weather holds so that it can remain open through Memorial Day weekend.
McCarthy:”It’s definitely in better shape but it just depends, that road does need some enhancements and we are looking at that.”
