As graduations approach, Skyview faces their last senior class graduation with celebrations and forward thinking.
We spoke with student body president Cat Schoessler about how the students have been commemorating these last days at Skyview.
Schoessler: “And then we had this big field day on Monday, we had all of our classes before lunch and then after lunch we went into the gym and they had like a big carnival thing, kind of like throwing it back to middle school and there was face painting and shooting hoops, arm wrestling, popcorn, there was a lot of stuff and then at the end of that I went and announced that there was a water fight outside and we used sponges instead of balloons so there wasn’t a mess and the kids loved it, they just went out there, it was a nice day, had cleared up and they just went HAM and at the end of that they all got ice cream sandwiches and pretty much everyone I talked to said they had a really good time and thought it was a good way to end the last year.”
Schoessler said that Skyview is also planning to bury a small time capsule that will hold notes and pictures.
Senior class President Brittany Hollers said that they have worked with SoHi’s student council over the past year to make the reconfiguration easier.
Hollers: “We’ve gotten together and kind of go over what we want as both student councils for the combining of the new student councils. So we put on a list of what we think is most important to us.”
Hollers added that even though they are the last senior class at Skyview, they did not want to slack off and have demonstrated positive steps forward by things like hosting a food drive with SoHi earlier this year.
