A series of recent thefts have struck Nikiski consequently spurring a town hall meeting set for this week.
Ann Krogseng with AA Dan’s Construction, said their company was recently a victim.
Krogseng: “According to our cameras we were broken into on Sunday, September 14 at 5:30 am, it was a dark truck that was circling the perimeter of the property, it looks like several individuals were involved, they went through all of the vehicles that we have staying out of the light of the cameras.”
She estimated the thieves took over $10,000 worth of tools and other things despite posted signs warning there were cameras.
Krogseng said that as she talked with the community it’s apparent something needs to be done.
Krogseng: “There’s been a significant increase in thefts and burglaries, I think these are very organized they’re very methodical in terms of the time and the things that they are taking, I think they are underground and there’s a significant increase from businesses to trucks and hunting trailers that are being taken out in Captain Cook Park, so it’s across the board and it’s definitely an increase.”
She organized that town hall meeting which will be this Wednesday, September 24, at the Nikiski Recreation Center in the library at 7:00 pm.
Local and state representatives have been invited and Krogseng invited the public to come voice their opinion.
