Large clouds of smoke have been seen this evening by Kasilof residents from the Funny River Fire.
We spoke to Andy Alexandrou with the Forestry who said that is to be expected.
Alexandrou: “I wouldn’t doubt that at all. There’s a lot of unburned fuel, islands of unburned fuel out in that Funny River Fire. What they’re seeing are those islands burning a little bit as the wind comes up, these are big stringers of black spruce that are well within the fire perimeter.
Once again those visible smoke clouds are not an indication that the fire is currently flaring up, we will continue to monitor that fire as well as the small fire down East End Road in Homer this evening.
