Soccer Home Stands Result In Multiple Victories

Kenai, SoHi and Nikiski hosted home soccer contests on Friday and Saturday; the Stars sweeping Wasilla and Houston, Kenai splitting with Wasilla and downing Grace, and the Nikiski girls win one against Palmer.

 

SoHi soccer teams recorded four wins in four pairings defeating Wasilla and Houston.

SoHi Girls 4 – Houston 0

The Stars shutout Houston 4-0 with goals by Whitney Wortham, Elena Bramante, Jaela Hubbard and Abi Tuttle.

SoHi Boys 12 – Houston 0

The SoHi boys dominated Houston 12-0 scoring seven, first half goals.  Dylan Kuntz scored a three-goal hat trick, Andrew Hammond scored twice, Timmy Smithwick added two goals, and Eric Mayoral, Seth Hutchison, Connor Larson, Johnny Smithwick and Ethan Bott added single goals.

SoHi Girls 2 – Wasilla 1

The SoHi girls allowed a late Warrior goal and held-off Wasilla for a 2-1 NLC win.  Elena Bromante and Jaela Hubbard scored first period goals for the Stars for a 2-0 halftime lead.  Maddie Kindred turned-away nine shots for the win.

SoHi Boys 3 – Wasilla 1

Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Stars scored three unanswered goals in the second half for a 3-1 SoHi victory in Northern Lights Conference play.  Eric Mayoral scored first and Eli Sheridan scored the game-winner, with Drew Kant adding the insurance goal.

 

Kenai soccer wins three of four conference games, including split with Warriors.

Kenai Girls 2 – Wasilla 3

The Kardinals battled from a 2-0 deficit in the first half.  Lara Creighton scored on a header for Kenai’s first goal.  Trailing 3-1, Kenai scored on a corner kick by Cori Holmes.

Kenai Boys 4 – Wasilla 0

Kenai built a quick 2-0 lead with early goals by Zack Tuttle and Damien Redder.  Tuttle and Redder each added a second goal for a 4-0 Kardinal Northern Lights Conference win.

Kenai Girls 3 – Grace 0

Goals by Olivia Brewer, Samantha Morse and Cori Holmes pushed Kenai past Grace 3-0.  Alli Steinbeck recorded a shutout in goal.

Kenai Boys 3 – Grace 0

Zack Tuttle scored a goal and two assists and Kevin Ramos and Max Dye scored single goals.  Tristan Landry recorded a second shutout for the weekend.

 

Nikiski records single conference win against Northern NLC teams.

Nikiski Girls 1 – Palmer 0

A lone goal for Deidra Lamping holds-up for a 1-0 Bulldog girls victory over Palmer. Brianna Vollertsen recorded a shutout in goal.

Nikiski Boys 1 – Palmer 2

Trailing 1-0 at the half, Sam Tauriainen tied the game at 1-1 on a free kick midway through the second half.  Palmer scored the game-winner with about two minutes remaining in regulation time.

Nikiski Girls 0 – Colony 5

Nikiski Boys 0 – Colony 6
