A pair of high school soccer invitational tournaments opened competition on Thursday; the boys tournament at KCHS and the girls tournament at Homer High School.
Girls teams include: Kenai, SoHi, Homer, Kodiak, Nikiski, Houston , Redington, and Palmer. The boys tournament includes: Kenai, SoHi, Homer, Kodiak, Nikiski, Houston , Juneau, and Palmer.
Kenai Invitational Cup Boys Tournament: First Round Results
Kenai 4 – Kodiak 0
Sawyer Vann and Wade James scored two goals apiece in a 4-0 shutout of the Kodiak Bears. Kenai’s Ezekiel Yragui and Carnell Gump shared time in goal for the Kardinals.
Soldotna 6 – Kenai JV 2
The SoHi boys downed the Kenai JV boys 6-2. Kenai filled in the bracket spot left vacant with Redington dropping from the tournament. SoHi goals were scored by Lane Hillye (2 goals), while Daniel Heath, Boone Theiler, Owen Buckbee and Gehret Medcoff added single goals.

Homer Girls Tournament: First Round Results
SoHi Girls 14 – Nikiski 1
SoHi overpowered the Bulldogs 14-1 in the first round. Star goals were scored by: Zayra Poage, Jazzalynn McDonald (2 goals), Lemm ( 3 goals), Sadie Lane, Liberty Miller,( 2goals), Grayson Henry (2 goals), Bay Bloom (2 goals) and Sonia Montague. Nikiski’s Avery White scored the Bulldogs lone goal.
Kenai girls 10, Palmer 0
The Kardinal girls shutout Palmer 10-0 allowing only a single shot on goaltender Maddie Malone.
Keani goals were scored by: Kylee Verkuilen, Rylie Sparks, Kori Moore (2 goals), Ella Yragui (2 goals), Danika Swafford (2 goals), Abby Castillo and Katie Johnson.
