The Nikiski Bulldogs drop a pair in Palmer as the Bulldogs begin a three-day swing through the Valley. Kenai splits in Homer with the Kardinal boys winning a conference contest against the Mariners.
Palmer Girls 6 – Nikiski 0
The Palmer Moose girls recorded a 6-0 shutout of the Nikiski Bulldogs in Palmer on Thursday. Palmer’s Catherine Uschmann notched a four-goal, hat trick for the Moose.
Palmer Boys 1 -Nikiski 0
Nikiski’s defense held Palmer to a single goal in a 1-0 Palmer victory on Thursday in Palmer.
Homer Girls 2 – Kenai Girls 1
The Kardinal girls opened the scoring on a Kylee Verkuilen direct kick in the first half; however, Homer answered with two goals in the second half for a 2-1 Mariner victory in Homer on Thursday. Laura Inama and Minadora Reutov scored second-half goals for the Mariners.
Kenai Boys 4 – Homer Boys 0
The Kardinal defense produced a 4-0 shut out of the Mariners on Thursday in Homer with goalie Wade James in net. James Baisden scored in the first half; Koa Diorec recorded two goals and Leif Lofquist added a goal in the second half for the 4-0 victory.
Schedule Update
The Soldotna vs Homer contests scheduled for Saturday, April 24 have been relocated to Kenai Central High School due to the SoHi turf not being ready for competitions.
The Nikiski Bulldogs continues its three-day swing through the Valley with games at Houston on Friday and Redington on Saturday; the Valley teams are members of the Northern Lights Conference in Division II soccer. Nikiski, Kenai and SoHi are members of the Peninsula Conference in Division II soccer.
The Houston Hawks reportedly will not field a boys team, so girls game only on Friday at Houston.
