The final Saturday of the regular season for high school soccer featured a Soldotna girls must-win victory over Homer 2-1, a Homer boys shutout of SoHi 3-0, a pair of victories for Kenai and a sweep for the Nikiski Bulldogs against Houston.
Peninsula Conference Soccer
The Soldotna girls, with a 2-1 victory over Homer, create a three-way tie in the Peninsula Conference regular season standings between SoHi, Homer and KCHS. The tie-breaker procedure will determine the upcoming Peninsula Conference seeding and the five-team bracket position. Simply, the #1 seed receives a bye and will face the winner of the Nikiski vs Seward pairing; the #2 and #3 seeds will play each other to advance to the championship game next Saturday.

SoHi Girls 2 – Homer 1
Twofirst half goals for the SoHi girls held-up to a Homer comeback for the 2-1 Peninsula Conference victory for the Star girls. The victory created a three-way tie for the top spot in the Peninsula Conference standings.
Journey Miller and Meijan Leaf recorded goals for SoHi in the first half; Homer answered with a lone goal by Zoe Stoneorov. SoHi goalie Margarida Mendoca held-off the Mariners for the Stars 2-1 victory.
SoHi Boys 0 – Homer 3
The Mariners lead 1-0 after one half on a Phinny Weston goal and second half goals by Daniel Reutov and Austin Shafford for the 3-0 shut-out of the Stars. Homer earns the #2 seed and SoHi the #3 seed into the conference tournament; Kenai will be the #1 seed.
Nikiski Girls 5 – Houston 0
The Bulldog girls opened a home weekend series with a shut-out of Houston 5-0 in non-conference soccer. A three-goal, hat trick was recorded by Emma Wik and Jordon Stock scored a pair of Bulldog goals.
Nikiski Boys 5 – Houston 1
Isaiah Gray scored three goals for the Bulldog hat trick and Michael Mysing added two goals in a 5-1 Nikiski boys victory over Northern Lights Conference Houston.
Nikiski Girls 3 – Redington 3
On Saturday, Nikiski closed the regular season with a 3-3 tie against Northern Lights Conference Redington at Nikiski. Nikiski’s Tika Zimmerman and Tawnisha Freeman netted first half goals. Emma Wik scored on a penalty kick in the second half.
Nikiski Boys 7 – Redington 1
Gavin White and Michael Mysing scored twice each and Shane Weathers, Justin Harris and Jacob Smith added single goals in a 7-1 non-conference victory for the Nikiski boys over Redington.
Kenai Girls 0 -Thunder Mountain 0
In non-conference soccer on Saturday, the Kenai girls played to a 0-0 draw with Southeast Thunder Mountain from Juneau.
Kenai Boys 4 – Thunder Mountain 0
Having already secured the top spot to the Peninsula Conference tournament for next week, the Kardinal boys closed the regular season with a 4-0 shut-out of Thunder Mountain in non-conference soccer on Saturday. Kardinal goals were recorded by Leif Lofquist and Nate Beiser, each with two goal efforts. Kenai goalie Aidan Milburn recorded the shutout for Kenai.
Peninsula Conference Championships
The Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships begin play on Thursday at Homer High School. The #1 seed receives a first-round bye and faces the winner of the #4 vs #5 game. The #2 and #3 seeds play for a spot in the championship game.
Official seeding will be released Sunday afternoon or Monday morning after conference records are confirmed.
