The Soldotna soccer teams played their final home games of the regular season on Wednesday on the SoHi turf and recorded a pair of victories over the Homer Mariners on the Stars’ senior day. SoHi finishes the regular season against Grace Christian School on Friday at Anchorage Football Stadium and at KCHS on Saturday against the Kardinals.
SoHI Girls 7 – Homer 0
The Star girls remain unbeaten on the season with a 7-0 victory over the Homer Mariners lead by a two-goal effort by Miranda Wolfe and a pair of goals by Alex Ashe. Whitney Wortham, Skyler Shaw, and Abi Tuttle added single goals.
The SoHi girls improve to 12-0 and 5-0 in the Northern Lights Conference. The season finale’ on Saturday at KCHS could set up a classic game between an unbeaten SoHi team and a once-beaten Kenai girls team.
SoHi Boys 3 – Homer 1
The SoHi boys held off Homer in a 3-1 NLC victory for the Stars. Bo Asimakopoulos opened the scoring for the Stars with a first-half goal and The Mariners tied the game on a goal following a red card penalty being assessed to the Stars. With the game tied at 1-1, Bailey Jones provided the game-winner with a header to give SoHi a 2-1 advantage. Dylan Kuntz added an insurance goal for SoHi.
The Star boys improve to 11-2 on the regular season and 5-0 in the Northern Lights Conference.
