Soccer Teams Close Regular Season: Ready For Peninsula Conference Tournament

Peninsula Conference teams from Kenai, Soldotna and Nikiski closed-out the regular season with non-conference contests in high school soccer; as teams prepare for the upcoming Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships set for Thursday through Saturday at Soldotna High School.

 

Kenai Girls 0 – Wasilla 4

The Kardinal girls were held without a goal in a 4-0 non-conference loss to Wasilla.  The Kardinal girls finish regular season play with a 6-4-1 overall record.

Kenai Boys 1 – Wasilla 0

A late Kardinal goal by Nate Beiser broke a scoreless tie and propelled the Kards to a 1-0 victory over Wasilla.  Beiser scored in the final minute and Kaden McKibben recorded a shutout in goal.  The Kenai boys finish 13-1-1 overall and without a loss in Peninsula Conference games.

 

SoHi Girls 1 – Wasilla 2

The SoHi girls fell to Wasilla 2-1 on Friday to close the soccer regular season.  Meijan Leaf score a late, second half goal for the Stars.  SoHi posts an 8-2-2 overall record.

SoHi Boys 4 – Wasilla 1

The Stars record four goals in the regular season finale’ against Wasilla, downing the Warriors 4-1 in non-conference action.  Eli Sheridan scored on a penalty kick to open the Stars scoring.  Josh Hieber scored a pair of goals and Luke Trammell added SoHi’s final goal.  The SoHi boys finish the regular season at 7-5.

 

Nikiski Girls 1 – Palmer 3

The Nikiski girls dropped the regular season, non-conference contest to Palmer 3-1, managing a single goal from Jordyn Stock.  The Bulldog girls record a 3-7 record for the season.

Nikiski Boys 4 – Palmer 0

The Bulldog boys build momentum going into the conference tournament with a 4-0 shutout of the Palmer Moose.  Michael Mysing recorded two goals, Shane Weathers and Mason Payne scored single goals for Nikiski.  The Nikiski boys finish play at 2-6-2.

 

The Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships are scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 17-19 at Soldotna High School.  First round action on Thursday will feature a pair of pay-in games with the girls #4 seed paired against the girls #5 seed at 3 p.m.; the boys #4 vs #5 game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday.
