Soccer Wrap-Up Features Conference & Non-Conference Results

The final weekend of April featured a full slate of soccer contests on the central peninsula with a majority of the games played at the KCHS soccer complex.  Both Kenai and SoHi played games at Ed Hollier Field and the Nikiski Bulldogs hosted on the grass turf at Nikiski High School.

 

Kenai Soccer Game Results

Kenai Girls 2 – Palmer 0  Friday

Kylie Verkuilen scored a pair of goals for the Kenai girls in a 2-0 non-conference victory on Friday.

Kenai Boys 2 – Palmer 0  Friday

Joe Hamilton and Wade James combined for both Kenai goals in a 2-0 shutout of Palmer.  Hamilton scored first on an assist from James; James scored the second Kenai goal with an assist from Hamilton.

Kenai Girls 1 – Wasilla 2   Saturday

Kylie Verkuilen scored in the first half to stake Kenai to a 1-0 lead; however, that proved to be the only goal for Kenai in a 2-1 loss to Wasilla on Saturday.

Kenai Boys 2 – Wasilla Boys 2  Saturday

Trailing 1-0 after one half, Kenai’s Sam Baisden tied the game with a penalty kick early in the second half.  Again down by a goal in the second half, Baisden scored to tie the game at 2-2.

 

Soldotna Soccer Game Results

SoHi Girls 0 – Wasilla 2   Friday

The SoHi girls were held scoreless in non-conference 2-0 loss to Wasilla on Friday.

SoHi Boys  0 – Wasilla 1   Friday

Goals were sparse on Friday at KCHS as the SoHi boys were also shutout in a 1-0 loss to Wasilla.

SoHi Girls 4 – Thunder Mountain 1   Saturday

Bay Bloom scored one goal in the first half and a goal in the second half in the Stars 4-1 non-conference victory over Thunder Mountain on Saturday at KCHS.  Jolie Widaman gave SoHi a 2-1 lead in the first half and Caleigh Glassmaker scored SoHi’s final goal in the second half.

 

Nikiski Soccer Game Results

Nikiski Girls 0 – Palmer 1

The Bulldogs finally hosted a home contest on the grass field; however, were unable to score in a 1-0 loss to Palmer.

Palmer boys 11 – Nikiski 0

The Bulldog boys played short-handed and were unable to score in an 11-0 loss to Palmer.
