Soldotna 13, Kenai 0
Soldotna blanked Kenai in a 3.5-inning conference win, as Isabelle Cruz pitched four shutout innings with five strikeouts and just two hits allowed.
The Stars’ offense surged early, scoring 12 runs in the first two innings. Tatum Cooper went 2-for-2 with three runs, Kacey Cunningham added four RBIs, and Alyssa McDonald had two RBIs and two runs. Cruz’s courtesy runner scored three times.
Kenai’s Lola McEwen gave up 12 runs early, while Kailey Stynsberg and McEwen had the team’s only hits.
Thursday, May 8
Soldotna 9, Homer 6
Soldotna outlasted Homer in a short two-inning game, winning 9-6. Bekah Pieh and Tatum Cooper combined in the circle, allowing six unearned runs on two hits.
Lilly Dawley went 2-for-2, Juliet Innes added three RBIs, and Gares and Cunningham scored twice each.
Chugiak 11, Soldotna 0
Chugiak handed SoHi a shutout loss in 3.5 innings. Isabelle Cruz gave up seven earned runs on 11 hits. The Stars managed only two hits, one each from Cruz and Cooper.
Chugiak 2, Kenai 1
Kenai nearly pulled off the upset over Chugiak, holding a 1-0 lead into the fifth. Avery Ellis pitched 5.1 innings and gave up just one earned run on five hits. Kenai had no hits but scored on a walk and errors. Ellis also scored the lone run.
Bartlett 13, Kenai 7
Kenai dropped a three-inning game to Bartlett, 13-7. Kennah Gregory gave up nine runs (one earned) in two innings, while Lola McEwen allowed four more. Tomrdle went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Avia Miller was also 2-for-2.
Friday, May 9
Soldotna 5, Kenai 2
Soldotna topped Kenai 5-2 in four innings behind Kathryn DeBardelaben’s complete game with seven strikeouts. Alyssa McDonald went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and DeBardelaben added two hits and an RBI. SoHi tallied 10 hits overall.
For Kenai, Avery Ellis pitched all four innings and gave up five runs. Caitlyn Crapps led the Kardinals with a 2-for-3 day and a run scored.
Kenai 11, Homer 7
Kenai erupted for five runs in the first and six in the second to beat Homer 11-7 in three innings. Lola McEwen pitched the full game, allowing four earned runs.
Kailey Stynsberg, Isabel Thomas, and Avia Miller each scored twice, while Tomrdle and Jorgensen both had 2-for-3, 2-run, 3-RBI performances.
Kenai 6, Redington 5
Kenai held on for a narrow win over Redington in 2.5 innings. Kennah Gregory pitched 2.2 innings, giving up two runs, and Jessie Johnson allowed three in relief.
EmmaLee Elordi scored twice, and the Kardinals used a five-run first inning to take early control.
Saturday, May 10
Soldotna 12, Bartlett 10 (Semifinal)
Soldotna rallied with a six-run fourth to edge Bartlett 12-10 in the tournament semifinal.
Alyssa McDonald hit a grand slam and finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Tatum Cooper homered and drove in three.
SoHi also got big contributions from Isabelle Cruz (2-for-4), Lilly Dawley (three runs), and DeBardelaben (two runs). Cruz pitched four innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits.
Chugiak 17, Kenai 1 (Semifinal)
Kenai fell to Chugiak in four innings during the semifinal. The Kardinals managed just two hits, one each from EmmaLee Elordi and Seylor Tomrdle.
Caitlyn Crapps drove in the lone run, and Isabel Thomas scored. Chugiak’s offense broke the game open early, ending Kenai’s tournament title hopes.
Soldotna 1, Chugiak 8 (Championship)
Soldotna dropped the Bash on the Bay final to Chugiak 8-1 after giving up seven runs in the second inning.
Katy DeBardelaben allowed seven earned runs on six hits over 2.2 innings. Alyssa McDonald led the Stars’ offense with a 2-for-2 day and scored their only run.
Kenai 12, Bartlett 11 (Third Place)
Kenai edged Bartlett in a two-inning, high-scoring game to take third place. Avery Ellis had two runs and two RBIs, Seylor Tomrdle drove in three, and EmmaLee Elordi, Isabel Thomas, and Kennah Gregory each scored twice.
Gregory allowed 10 runs over 1.2 innings, while Ellis finished the final out, surrendering one unearned run.
