SoHi Advances to Hockey Championship Game With 1-0 Shut Out Of Palmer

The 2023 ASAA First National Cup Division II Hockey State Championships continued play on Friday evening with the Soldotna Stars shutting-out Palmer 1-0 in the winner’s bracket, semi-final at the Patty Center at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks in Fairbanks.

 

SoHi advances to the 2023 DII state championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m. and will face the Juneau Douglas Crimson Bears.  The Bears upset Houston 4-3 on Friday to advance to the championship game.

 

SoHi 1 – Palmer 0

Jackson Purcell recorded a shutout in goal for the Stars and Jace Applehans scored the game’s only goal in the third period to defeat the Moose 1-0.

Applehans scored just :19 seconds into the third period on a power play and the SoHi defense held-up for the remainder of the contest.

 

Juneau 4 – Houston 3

Juneau scored three, first period goals for a 3-0 lead and held-off Houston 4-3 for the semi-final victory on Friday.

 

2023 ASAA First National Cup Division II Hockey State Championships

The ASAA DII hockey championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday and will be broadcast on ESPN 140AM, 96.9FM and streamed at radiokenai.com
