The Soldotna Stars run at the 2016 ASAA State Baseball Championships, hosted at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage, ended with a second tournament loss for SoHi.
Lathrop 11 – SoHi 9
The Stars battled Lathrop in an offensive onslaught on Friday; the two teams combining for 20 runs and each team recording a five-run inning. SoHi lead 8-5 into the bottom of the fifth inning; however, Lathrop scored five runs in the fifth to take the lead. both teams added single runs for an 11-9 Lathrop victory. SoHi starter Mathew Dougherty allowed nine runs on eight hits in four innings.
The second tournament loss eliminates SoHi from the state tournament.
The ASAA State Baseball Championships continue through Saturday afternoon, with the championships game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.
