The Soldotna Stars baseball team opened a five games in six days schedule with an overpowering 19-1 victory over the Redington Huskies on Monday.

The Stars squeezed in a JV contest before the scheduled varsity game which moved the start to 4 p.m.; regardless, the Stars made quick work of the Huskies.

SoHi 19 – Redington 1

SoHi junior Andrew Pieh led the Stars on the mound and at the plate.  Pieh threw five innings allowing just one run and striking out five batters.  At the plate, Pieh collected four RBI, scored three runs and went 2 for 2.

All totaled, seven SoHi players crossed the plate at least twice each in the 19-run offensive effort.

Pitching will be crucial for the Stars as they will play a total of seven games in nine days (SoHi split with Kodiak on Friday and Saturday).

The Kenai Kardinals baseball team faces Homer on Tuesday at the Kenai Field with a schedule 6:30 p.m. first pitch.  Kenai will play three games in the next five days.
