Offense was on display for both the Soldotna baseball and softball teams on each team’s home diamond on Wednesday; both teams recording conference victories with only four days remaining in the regular season.
SoHi Baseball 10 – Homer 5
After allowing a pair of early runs to the Mariners, the Soldotna boys rallied with a six-run, second inning, batting through the line-up.
Jeremy Kupferschmid started on the mound for the Stars and threw 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs; Chris Jamie, in 4 2/3 innings of relieve, held the Mariners to a single run. At the plate, David Michael finished 2 for 2, Trapper Thompson 2 for 3 and Trenton Steadman went 3 for 4.
SoHi baseball travels to Redington High School on Thursday, plays at Palmer on Friday and closes the regular season at Wasilla on Saturday.
SoHi Softball 22 – Kenai 6
A run-rule, three inning contest between SoHi and Kenai softball programs ended with a 22-6 victory for the Soldotna Stars in Northern Lights Conference play.
SoHi starting pitcher Casey Earll pitched three innings for the victory and the SoHi girls offense provide plenty of support with an 18-run first inning. The Kardinal softball team will host SoHi on Friday and Kenai closes the regular season on Saturday in Homer.
