SoHi Basketball Sweeps Kardinals On Stars Senior Night

Even though Soldotna and Kenai no longer play in the same conference, or for that matter the same division, the cross-town rival atmosphere remains strong and was on display at Soldotna High School on Saturday.

 

SoHi Girls 62 – Kenai 30

SoHi’s senior Itu Tuisaula opened with nine-straight points and the Stars opened an 11-6 first quarter lead, en route to a 62-30 non-divisional victory over the 3A Kardinals.  SoHi lead 23-9 at the half and extended to a 42-20 lead after three quarters.  Tuisaula finished with 23 points and Drysta Crosby-Schneider added 14 points fr the Stars.  Kenai’s senior Kailey Hamilton lead the Kards with 13 points.

SoHi Boys 48 – Kenai 35

The 4A Soldotna boys were pushed throughout the first half of a 48-35 win over 3A Kenai with the Kardinal boys leading 10-8 after the first quarter and SoHi leading 22-18 at the half.  The Stars opened-up an 11-point lead in the third quarter and finished with a 13-11 advantage in the final quarter for a 13 point SoHi victory.  SoHi senior Jersey Truesdell lead the Stars with 20 points, including five three-point baskets.  Kenai’s Braedon Pitsch and Kayden Daniels each scored nine points for the Kards.

 

Upcoming Schedule

The final week of the regular season finds Kenai, Nikiski and SoHi all closing-out the regular season on the road with games in Anchorage and the Valley.

Kenai travels to Redington on Friday March 6th and then to Houston on Saturday, March 7th in Southcentral Conference action.

Nikiski faces Anchorage Christian School on Friday night and Grace Christian on Saturday afternoon in a pair of Southcentral Conference contests.

Soldotna travels to Palmer for Northern Lights Conference games on Saturday against the Moose.
