The Soldotna Star boys were pushed to the final buzzer by the Haines Glacier Bears; SoHi holding-off Haines 68-65 in tournament action at the Capital City Classic basketball tournament in Juneau on Saturday.
The Stars opened with a 12-3 lead only to fall behind to Haines 39-35 at the half. The Glacier Bears hitting eight, three-point shots in the first half.
Sohi re-took the lead at 49-48 after trailing by eight in the third quarter. SoHi lead 53-52 after three quarters. Zach Hansen scored nine points in the quarter.
The Star boys lead 61-58 with 3:30 remaining. Haines tied the game at 65-65 with 1:10 left in regulation. Ray Chumley scored the game-winner for SoHi with :23 seconds to play and Haines missed a game-winning three with .4 on the clock. A final free throw and the Stars go to 2-0 in the tournament: SoHi 68, Haines 65.

The Stars return to tournament play on Monday with a 7:00 p.m. game against host Juneau-Douglas.
