SoHi Defeats Monroe 5-2 To Advance to 4th Place Game At Division II State Hockey

The 2022 ASAA Division II State Hockey Championships moved into Friday action with the Soldotna Stars defeating Monroe in the consolation game 5-2.

The Stars advance to the 4th Place game on Saturday at noon at the Menard Arena in Wasilla.

 

SoHi 5 – Monroe 2

SoHi opened the scoring with a Dawson Lockwood goal at 2:50 of the first period.  Monroe answered with a power-play goal for Dylan Bailey to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second period, Silas Larsen opened with a power-play goal just :34 seconds into the period.  The Stars struck again at 2:54 with a Marshall DeReave goal for a 3-1 SoHi advantage.  Miles Fowler drew the Rams to within a goal with a power-play goal for Monroe.  Gehret Medcoff broke free for a SoHi goal at 14:32 to give the Stars a 4-2 lead.

Larsen extended the SoHi lead to 5-2 with his second goal of the game, netting a goal at 9:24 of the third period.  In goal for the Stars Ayden See recorded 8 saves on 10 shots.

 

SoHi advances to play in the 4th Place game at noon on Saturday against the winner of the Kenai vs Juneau game.
