SoHi Football Dominates North Pole 60-6 In Stars Road Opener

The Soldotna Stars scored on nine of ten possessions, including SoHi’s first five possessions.  Only a called-back touchdown on a penalty late in the first half slowed the SoHi offensive juggernaut.

 

The Stars rushed for eight scores, threw one touchdown pass and kicked a 37-yard field goal; while the defense recovered two, on-side kicks.

 

SoHi 60 – North Pole 6

The Stars opened with a 39-yard touchdown run by Gehret Medcoff; a recovered blocked punt and a 14-yard touchdown by Collin Peck for a 14-0 lead after only five offensive plays.

SoHi scored to open the second quarter with a quarterback Brayden Taylor 1-yard run.  The Stars added a one-play, 39-yard touchdown run by Medcoff and after recovering an on-side kick added a 37-yard Zac Buckbee field goal for a 32-0 lead.  The Patriots scored with seven :07 seconds remaining in the half.  Halftime score: SoHi 32, North Pole 6.

The Stars scored on three possessions in the third quarter with a 42-yard Medcoff run; a touchdown pass of eight yards from Taylor to Andrew Pieh; and a Taylor bootleg touchdown run of 24 yards.  SoHi added a Jaykob Kemp 15-yard touchdown run to cap the scoring.  Final Score: SoHi 60, North Pole 6.
