All of the weapons were on display Saturday at the SoHi Homecoming conference football game between the Stars and the Kodiak Bears; SoHi dominating Kodiak 44-7 to improve to 2-0 in the Northern Lights Conference and 6-0 on the 2017 football season.
The Stars football program advances its state-best winning streak to 55 consecutive games.
SoHi 44 – Kodiak 7
Soldotna mixed pass and run and demonstrated a diverse offensive attack scoring six touchdowns on eight possession, including a pair of passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns. Add in a safety and SoHi built a 44-0 lead before retiring the starters in the fourth quarter.
The Stars opened with a 9-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brandon Crowder to tight end Galen Brantley III on the Stars first drive. The second drive lasted two plays with SoHi scoring on a Cody Quelland 5-yard run. Brenner Furlong added an 18-yard rushing touchdown to close the first quarter, SoHi 21, Kodiak 0.
One more 5-yard touchdown run by Aaron Faletoi closed the first half scoring. SoHi 28, Kodiak 0.
The Stars opened the third quarter with a 31-yard touchdown catch by Luke Trammell and following an interception by Quelland, SoHi added a 14-yard touchdown run by Furlong. SoHi closed their scoring with a defensive safety on the ensuing kick-off: SoHi 44, Kodiak 0 . Kodiak scored a mop-up touchdown in the fourth quarter.
