The Region III Track & Field Championships, with both Division I and Division II track meets held concurrently, were contested at Kenai Central High School to determine Region III DI champions and to determine qualifiers to the upcoming ASAA Division I Track & Field Championships.
Division I Track & Field Team Results
The Soldotna Star girls track team raced to the Region III Division I championship and the SoHi boys track team finished as Division I runner-up in the team totals after a full, two days of competition.
The Soldotna girls totaled 137 points and runner-up Colony earned 96 points.
The Wasilla boys with 115 points outscored the SoHi boys 104 points for the DI boys team title. (A scoring error within the athletic.net system caused a team scoring error which was corrected to reflect the final team scores–individual event results were not affected.)
Division I Track & Field: Girls Results
The Soldotna girls depth proved unmatchable as the Star girls won the team championship with two, individual champions, both in field events, and two relay team victories.
Palmer’s Katey Houser, Region III DI Female Athlete of the Year, won four individual events including the 200M, 400M, 1600M and 3200M.
Soldotna High School Girls
The SoHi girls scored in all but one event with multiple athletes placing second and third and building the point total for the Stars. The SoHi girls won the 4X400M relay and the 4X800M relay. Individual victories included Adara Hagelund in the high jump and Mandi Sisley in the triple jump.

Division I Track & Field: Boy Results
The Wasilla Warrior boys, on the strength of their jumping and hurdling results, earned the Region III DI boys team title with a total of 115 points. The SoHi boys earned 104 points to finish second in the team scoring.
Wasilla’s Dylan Jeffus won three individual championships by sweeping the jumping events with victories in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Colony’s Matthew Rongitsch won the 1600M, 3200M and finished second in the 800M.
Soldotna Stars Boys
SoHi’s Dylan Dahlgren threw for victories in both the shot put and the discus and on the track finished fourth in the 100M and 5th in the 200M. Dahlgren was awarded the Region III DI Male Athlete of the Year Award.
Leigh Tacey II lead the Stars on the track placing 1st in 400M, 2nd in 100M, 2nd in 200M and 1st in 4X200M relay. Nathan Johnson recorded an individual victory in the 800M, a second in the 400M, a third in the triple jump and was the anchor on the first-place 4X400M relay for the Stars.
Top Six Performances for the SoHi boys included: Ethan Sewell: 2nd in long jump, 4th in 200M, 5th in high jump; Isaac Chavarria: 2nd in triple jump; Jared Williams: 6th on 100M; James Innes, 4th in 400M; Finnley Loop, 6th in 400M; Daniel McRorie, 3rdd in 300M hurdles; Wyatt Faircloth, 4th in 300M hurdles; Kevin Steger: 6th in shot put; SoHi Relays: 1st in 4X200M relay, 1st in 4X400M relay, 2nd in 4X100M relay and 4th in 4X800M relay (team members on athletic.net).
