SoHi Girls & Kardinal Boys Remain Unbeaten In Peninsula Basketball

The Soldotna Star girls and Kenai Kardinal boys continued their winning ways as peninsula teams started their second round of intra-peninsula contests on Tuesday. Both the Lady Stars and the Kardinal boys stand at 5-0 on the basketball season.

 

SoHi Girls 54 – Kenai 35

The SoHi girls defense and the shooting of senior Morgan Bouschor pushed the Stars past the Kenai Kardinals on Tuesday at SoHi.

The Star girls opened a 17-4 lead in the first quarter and extended to 31-13 at the half.  Morgan Bouschor lead SoHi girls with 21 points: Kenai’s Emma Beck lead all scorers with 24 points.

Kenai Boys 43 – SoHi 38

The importance of making freethrows was spotlighted on Tuesday at Soldotna High with the SoHi boys falling to the Kenai Kardinals 43-38.  The Stars made only 3 or 19 freethrows for the game and shot 0 for 10 from the line in the fourth quarter.  Kenai, in the fourth quarter made 7 of 14 from the line.  Bridger Beck, off the bench, lead Kenai with 8 points: Ethan Sewell topped the Stars with 15 points.

 

Homer girls 55- Nikiski 25

The Homer girls held a narrow 19-16 lead at the half; then rolled over the Bulldogs in the second half with a 36-point effort.

Delilah Harris had 14 points for Homer: Lillian Carstens had 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Homer boys 50 – Nikiski 29

The Homer Mariner boys improved to 4-1 downing Nikiski 50-29.  A low-scoring first half, Homer led 16-13 and pulled-away in the second half.

Clayton Beachy had 20 points for the Mariners: Drew Handley had 12 points to lead the Bulldogs.
