For the second week in a row, the Soldotna girls and Kenai boys track teams win team titles in high school track and field.
The Stars girls and Kard boys dominated the team scoring at the Kenai Central Invitational Track and Field Meet.
The Stars used team depth and five individual championships to post 125 points for the girls title. The Kenai boys scored 141 points with six individual titles.
Kenai Central Invitational: Girls Results
The Soldotna girls were lead by Makayla Wong, who threw the shot put for a state best 34′ 8″; Daisy Nelson, who won the 100M, finished second in the triple jump, third in the 800M. SoHi also got a top performance from Lindsay Wong in the 200M, third in the 400M, third in the high jump. SoHi’s Dani McCormick won the 800M and combined with Wong, Nelson and Natalie Johnson for the victory in the 4X200M relay.
Other top performances were recorded by Madison Orth from Cook Inlet Academy with victories in the 100M hurdles and the triple jump. Kenai’s Kiana Harding won the high jump with a jump of 4’8″; and the Skyview girls race to a victory in the 4X100M relay with Kaylee Fisher, Hayley Ramsell, Haille Landess and Heather Tolliver.
Kenai Central Invitational: Boys Results
The Kardinals dominated the distance events in-route-to the boys title.
The Theisen brothers finished 1-2 in all three distance runs. Jordan Theisen won the 1600m and 3200m runs and finished second in the 800M. Jonah Theisen won the 800M and finished second in the 1600M and 3200M runs. Last week at the Homer Invitational, Jonah won all three and Jordan finished second.
Also for the Kardinals, Josh Jackman won the 200M and recorded second place finishes in the long jump, 400M, and 110 M hurdles; Lucas Casebeer won the triple jump and finished second in the 100M.
Other top performances were turned in by CIA’s Zach Taplin, sweeping the shot put and discus; Nikiski’s Seth Carstens won the long jump and high jump.
Track teams will pick from a trio of meets this week including the Seward Invite on Tuesday, the Anchorage Invite and Palmer Invite, both on Friday and Saturday.
