SoHi Holds-Off Palmer 2-0 On Late Goal

Scoreless through nearly 42 minutes of hockey, the Soldotna Stars scored two goals in the final 3 and a half minutes to down Palmer 2-0 in Railbelt Conference hockey action on Friday night at the MTA Center in Palmer.

 

Gavin Hakkenson scored on a slap shot with 3:28 remaining in regulation time to push the Stars to a second-straight Railbelt Conference victory for the weekend. Wyatt Medcoff added an insurance goal with :25 seconds remaining.   Corbin Wirz in goal for SoHi recorded 19 saves.  SoHi out shot Palmer 28 to 19.

The Stars improve to 6-1 in the Railbelt Conference with three conference games remaining on the schedule next week: Kenai @ SoHi on Tuesday, SoHi @ Juneau on Friday and Saturday.

 

The Stars close their Valley swing on Saturday against the Division I Wasilla Warriors with a 3:30 p.m. games at the Brent Arena.

 

Kenai Hockey

The Kardinals defeated Juneau 7-3 in Juneau on Friday night in Railbelt Conference hockey.  Kenai improves to 4-3-1 in the conference with a game on Saturday against the Crimson Bears.
