SoHi & Kenai Girls Play To Draw: Kardinal Boys Earn 1-0 Win

One goal in two, combined games in a pair of Peninsula Conference soccer contests between the Soldotna and Kenai girls and boys proved the cool spring weather continues to influence play in the high school soccer season.

 

The Kardinal boys scored on a direct free kick in the final minute of the first half and the Kenai girls and SoHi girls played scoreless soccer on Tuesday at Soldotna High School.

 

SoHi Girls 0 – Kenai Girls 0
The SoHi girls fired the most shots on goal, most from 20-25 yards out, and had a penalty kick rebound goal disallowed in a 0-0 tie with the Kenai girls.  Sunny Miller for SoHi and Maddie Malone for Kenai recorded shutouts in goal.

Kenai Boys 1 – SoHi Boys 0
Joe Hamilton scored in the final minute of the first half and the Kenai defense made the single goal hold-up for a 1-0 Peninsula Conference victory for Kenai.  Kenai goalie Gavin Langham recorded the shutout for the Kardinal boys.

Homer Girls 12 – Nikiski Girls 0
The Mariner girls improved to 4-0 in the Peninsula Conference.

Homer Boys 10 – Nikiski Boys 0
The Homer boys evened their conference record at 2-2 with a victory in Nikiski.
