The 7th Annual Grace Hardwood Classic Basketball Tournament wrapped-up on Saturday with the Soldotna Stars and Nikiski Bulldog dropping their respective final games of the tournament.
SoHi 54 – Tikigaq (Pt. Hope) 61
The SoHi girls battled the defending 2022 2A girls state champions in the 3rd Place game on Saturday, falling to the Harpoonerettes 61-54 on a late surge by Tikigaq.
The Tikigaq girls led 27-21 at the half and extended to a 12-point led in the third quarter before a late SoHi run drew the Stars to within three at 42-39. In the fourth quarter, SoHi owned a 51-50 lead, momentarily, then the Harpoonerettes pulled-away for the 61-54 victory. Tikigaq’s Jennifer Nash scored 34 points in the victory. Tanner Inman topped the Stars with 12 points.
Nikiski 40 – South 48
The Bulldog girls trailed 25-23 at the half and 36-33 after three quarters, and evened the game at 40-40; then, South closed on an 8-0 run for a 48-40 victory in the 4th Place game. Avery White led the Bulldogs with 10 points.
Grace Christian defeated Monroe Catholic in the championship game 48-35 in a possible preview of a 3A state tournament pairing. Grace finished third and Monroe fifth at the 2022 3A state tournament.
