The regular season for the 4A Northern Lights Conference closed-out with the Soldotna girls defeating the Palmer Moose and the SoHi boys falling to Palmer. Both programs advance to the Northern Lights Conference Tournament scheduled for Kodiak High School running March 9-11.
SoHi Girls 53 – Palmer Girls 35
The SoHi girls, on the strength of their defense, opened a 18-6 lead in the first quarter and extended to an 18-point victory 53-35 over the Palmer Moose.
Four SoHi players scored in double-figures led by Josie Sheridan with 12 points and Katelyn Morrison, Tanner Inman and Kaytlin McAnelly with 10 points each.
The SoHi girls will be the #4 seed into the Northern Lights Conference tournament next week in Kodiak. SoHi stands at 4-6 in the NLC. The ACS girls will be the #1 seed with a 10-0 NLC record.
SoHi Boys 51 – Palmer 55
On the Stars senior night, the SoHi boys battled from a 5-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to draw to with a point at 52-51; however, Palmer held the Stars in the final minute for the 55-51 victory for the Moose.
Jakob Brown led all scorers with 18 points in the loss. SoHi finishes NLC play at 2-8; Palmer also owns a 2-8 record. Seeding into the NLC tournament between the Stars and Moose will be determined via tie-breaker for 5th & 6th place on the bracket. Colony will be the #1 seed with a 10-0 NLC record.
