SoHi Tip-Off Tournament Crowns ACS Champions

The 2023 Revolution Sport & Spine Therapy Al Howard Shootout Basketball Tournament closed-out with Saturday pairings matching the Kenai Kardinals against Juneau and the Soldotna Stars against Anchorage Christian School.

 

The ACS Lions won both the girls and boys tournament championships finishing tournament play with 3-0 records; both recording victories over host SoHi on Saturday.

Juneau Girls 59 – Kenai Girls 19

Juneau downed Kenai 59-19; the Kardinals playing without Emma Beck, who is traveling to the Arctic Winter Games to play volleyball for Team Alaska.  Chloe Goldsby scored eight points for the Kards, all in the final quarter.

Juneau Boys 58 – Kenai Boys 47

The Kardinals opened a 30-16 lead at the half against Juneau; however , Kenai was outscored 42-17 in the second half for a 58-47 Juneau victory.  Jakob Kvasnikoff led the Kardinals with 21 points.

SoHi Girls 32 – ACS Girls 78

The ACS Lions dominated play with Sayvia Sellers, 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year, leading the Lions with 27 points.

SoHi Boys 35 – ACS Boys 60

The ACS boys complete an undefeated run through the tournament with a 60-35 win over host SoHi.  The Stars struggled to score, managing no field goals for six minutes in the second quarter and only one field goal in the third quarter.  Jakob Brown topped the Stars with 10 points.
