It may be non-conference–put it is SoHi vs Kenai!
The Soldotna Stars volleyball team downed Kenai in three-straight games on Tuesday at KCHS in non-conference volleyball action. With Kenai reclassified to 3A and the Southcentral Conference, the Kenai vs SoHi showdowns in 2018 count more for bragging rights than season standings.
The Stars rallied late in game one, tying the game at 21-21 and taking game one 25-21. A 10-1 start for the Stars in game two lead to a 25-11 game two score. The Stars closed-out the contest with a late surge in game three; trailing 21-18 before tying the game at 21-21, 23-23, 24-24 and finally winning 26-24.
SoHi’s Aliann Schmidt and Itu Tuasaula both recorded 10 kills; Jaiden Streiff lead Kenai with seen kills.
SoHi, Kenai and Nikiski will compete in the Grace Christian Lady Grizzlies Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Anchorage.
