Soldotna High School’s Bechler Metcalf, the D1 large school state runner-up in the 152-pound division at the ASAA D1 State Wrestling Champions for 2017, signed his national Letter of Intent to attend Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa on Friday morning at Soldotna High School.
Richard (Bechler) Metcalf is a 4-time varsity letter winner and 2017 Region III championship in the 152-lb weight class. Metcalf was named captain his junior and senior year and closed his senior wrestling campaign with 17 pins. Metcalf is projected to wrestle in the 157 or 165 pound weight divisions for the Northwestern College Raiders, while pursuing a major in English Education.
Northwestern College is a Christian liberal arts college located in Orange City , Iowa with a student population of 1260 in 2017-18. The Raiders compete in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) for NAIA athletics. The current collegiate wrestling season runs through February.
