The City of Soldotna is now accepting grant applications for its Storefront Improvement Program, which aims to promote a thriving economy and an attractive streetscape. The program was created in 2012 and seeks to encourage private investment in the city’s downtown and to beautify the Sterling Highway and Kenai Spur Highway corridors in the City of Soldotna.
Shanon Davis, Executive Director for the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center tells KSRM:
“The City of Soldotna’s Storefront Improvement Program has opened again. This provides 50% matching funds up to $7,500 for exterior business remodels in the commercial district. These are all places that we drive by every day, and I think that this grant has just made a tremendous difference in the eye appeal of our town, and I encourage people to sign up for that if they have a storefront that they would like to see some improvements made on. It’s a great deal.”
The city accepts applications for the Traditional storefront Improvement program three times per year. For information about the program and types of projects that are eligible, please see the brochure and the full program guidelines. After you have reviewed the program guidelines to ensure your project is eligible, fill out an application and be sure to attach drawings or photos that help describe your project. Applications can be turned in at Soldotna City Hall. The City typically funds 2-3 projects per year.
Applications are due no later than June 18th. Contact [email protected] or at 907-262-9107 for more information.
