The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is holding a series of scoping meetings across the Kenai Peninsula this week, but the Soldotna meeting time has changed from 7pm on Friday November 14th to 5-8pm.
These scooping meetings are in regards to the Cook Inlet being opened up to oil and gas lease sales by 2018 and scoping is defined by the National Environmental Policy Act as “an early and open process for determining the scope of issues to be addressed and for identifying the significant issues related to the proposed action”.
At these meetings the public can comment on the upcoming Environmental Impact Statement that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will be providing on that special interest least sale of Cook Inlet Unit 244.
The public comment period for that E.I.S. ends on Monday December 8th of 2014.
To submit public comments online visit regulations.gov and type in Cook Inlet 244.
