Director of Economic Development and Planning Stephanie Queen said they’ve launched a new “Business First for a Greater Soldotna” program. She said it’s crucial that Soldotna integrate the government, commercial, and residential areas of the city and pointed to Soldotna Creek Park, which was built with public and private funds…

Queen: “It’s got that outdoor amphitheater that was provided with grant funds from a local business and it had the city and DOT and even the Borough coming together to get that designated as a park, so I think that the foundations for the community have existed for decades, but our approach now has maybe allowed us to move forward and move some things ahead that maybe had been talked about because we’re able to partner with the private sector, the School District, the Borough to move these things forward.”

The Planning Department has implemented several goals for the coming years to improve the look of the downtown area and ensure policies and codes are business-friendly.
