Soldotna Business Target Of Vandalism Again

Ammo Can Coffee in Soldotna, a business known for its strong conservative political stances, has once again been targeted by vandals. It is unclear whether the perpetrator(s) are the same as those who acted against the local coffee shop in 2022, but the act of vandalism was virtually identical.

Owner Michelle Floyd posted a video on social media showing “traitor” spray painted in black across the storefront window and door, a front door lock filled with superglue, and nails strewn around the parking lot.

These are nearly the exact same elements of vandalism committed against Ammo Can as those in 2022. In that incident, “traitors” was also spray painted in black across the storefront, and the door lock filled with superglue.

“I came in when the shop was supposed to open and just turned the lights on from the back and saw the tag again across all the windows,” Floyd said. “I was just like, ‘Not again. How is this happening again.'”

Floyd said that a police report had already been filed on the vandalism and that Soldotna Police were investigating the crime.

When Ammo Can Coffee was vandalized in 2022, the perpetrator was caught by multiple camera angles, which seemed like sufficient evidence to catch the vandal. However, according to Michelle, no one was ever apprehended. “The camera shots, to my knowledge, weren’t clear enough where they had picked up [the vandal].”

In her social media video, posted on Monday, August 5, Floyd apologized, telling patrons that the business would be closed that day while they were “cleaning up the mess,” but assured their customers that it would be open the following day.

She also petitioned the community for help in finding the person responsible and asked for unity rather than division in the community: “We do need to stand together and stop the fighting. This is not necessary. We can agree to disagree without needing this. This is not acceptable.”

Like Floyd promised in the video, Ammo Can reopened for business on Tuesday.
