Under ten burial plots are available in the Soldotna Memorial Park and the design of an expansion is underway.
City Engineer Kyle Kornelis said a number of burials along with families planning ahead and making reservations have taken up areas recently.
Kornelis: “We’re looking at expanding the availability at the cemetery by clearing an additional area and preparing it, and we’re doing some surveying currently to identify the plots and the lay out for that expansion area. “
Kornelis said the city acquired the property from the borough for Soldotna Memorial Park a few years ago which still has areas to expand, so no new property needs to be acquired.
