Resolution 2021-001 on the Soldotna City Council agenda to modify COVID-19 protocols for the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex passed, following amendments to sections 1, 4, 5 and 6, by a 6-0 vote of the Soldotna City Council on Wednesday night.
As a result of the passage of Resolution 2021-001, the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex will now allow games and scrimmages, allow athletes and officials to not wear masks will on the ice and allow spectator capacity at 250 spectators.
Other sections of the resolution advanced without amendment. The resolution, by Soldotna code, takes effect immediately.
Resolution 2021-001 Main Points
Section One: Amended to allow athletes and officials on the ice to not wear masks. Section One also delineated “on ice” to include team bench and penalty box.
Council member Pamela Parker introduced amendment to include officials to Section One. Passed by vote of 5-1.
Section Two: Allows for games and scrimmages.
Section Three: Arrival / Departure Times: All persons entering the building may arrive 15 minutes
before ice time and must depart 15 minutes after ice time.
Section Four: Hockey On-Ice Capacity: The allowed on-ice capacity numbers includes players,
coaches and officials is established at 50 people.
Council member Dave Carey introduced amendment to increase on-ice capacity for hockey to 50. Passed by a vote of 6-0.
Section Five: Public Skate On-Ice Capacity: The allowed on-ice capacity during public skate is
limited to 50 persons per session.
Section Six: Spectators: Only 250 spectators shall be allowed in the building during any ice
event.
Council member Dave Carey introduced amendment to increase spectator capacity for SRSC to 250 people. Passed by a vote of 4-3 with Mayor Paul Whitney casting tie-breaker vote.
Section Seven: Team Rooms: Team rooms will be open.
Section Eight: Hockey Organization Responsibilities: All Hockey organizations shall identify a COVID-19 Point of Contact. The designated point of contact shall be responsible for the following: Informing players, parents, coaches and officials of the SRSC facility protocols; establish check-ins for all practices and games and perform a health screenings at all check-ins for practices and games; and shall maintain an attendance log for practices.
