Tonight the Soldotna City Council will address it’s proposed ordinance to ban the sale and possession of synthetic drugs within the Soldotna city limits.
Soldotna Mayor Nels Anderson said local law enforcement have requested it as a way to stop the current problem with the synthetic drugs.
Mayor Anderson: “It’s more a statement of we don’t want this in our town and city, we recognize that areas outside the city are not going to be covered by this and we have no control over whether things are sold outside the city area that are normally legal but can be turned into drugs of abuse.”
The public testimony on the topic is scheduled for tonight’s meeting at 6 pm.
Wasilla’s City Council failed a similar ordinance in early February due to broad language however reintroduced a revised version Monday.
