The Soldotna City Council will finalize the informational materials about Soldotna’s ballot proposition 1 during this evening’s meeting.

City Manager Mark Dixson gave us the jist of what the council will ensure.

Dixson: “That is simply our informational flier on reasons why it’s being proposed and it’s intended to be factual rather than swaying the public’s vote one way or another, I would imagine there’s going to be some discussion on portions of it.”

That proposition will ask Soldotna voters whether or not the City of Soldotna should localize financial disclosure reporting requirements in order to “protect citizens and public servants from unreasonable exposure.”

Also on the agenda for this evening:

As we previously reported, the council will discuss Joint Resolution No. 1 that would request the Board of Fisheries to hold it’s 2017 Upper Cook Inlet FinFish Meeting on the Kenai Peninsula. That Joint Resolution has been heard by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly and City of Kenai and is slated to also be heard by the cities of Homer, Seldovia, and Seward.

Additionally Soldotna councilors will consider whether or not to match at $25,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for erosion prevention activities near Swiftwater Park.
